Clamidia, symptoms, disease, infection

Clamidia is known as the ‘silent’ disease because only about a quarter of infected women and about half of infected men actually show symptoms of Clamidia. Symptoms that do occur, usually appear after one to three weeks of exposure to the infection.

            The symptoms that women would have if they were to be infected with Clamidia would be:

§         Abnormal vaginal discharge

§         Burning sensation when urinating

§         Lower abdominal pain

§         Lower back pain

§         Nausea

§         Fever

§         Pain during intercourse

§         Bleeding between menstrual periods

The symptoms that men would have if they were to be infected would be:

§         Discharge from the penis

§         Burning sensation when urinating

§         Burning and itching around the opening of the penis

§         Pain and swelling in the testicles

Men or wemen who have anal intercourse may also obtain clamidia infection in the rectum which the symptoms would be:

§         Rectal pain

§         Discharge

§         Bleeding

Men or women can also be infected with Clamidia in the throat due to having oral sex with an infected partner.
